PROCEDURE FOR PARENTS WAITING FOR CHILDREN AND AFTERSCHOOL PLAY 2009-10
All parents and children waiting for siblings to be released at 2:05 (or at 1:20
on Wednesdays) must wait on the upper playground next to the playscape or at the
tables next to the Extended Day Program classrooms. Parents and children may not
wait on the lower playground due to impact on our p.e. classes. Thanks for your
cooperation with this directive.
PLEASE NOTE THAT BEFORE 2:05 CHILDREN MUST STAY WITH THEIR PARENTS WHILE WAITING
AND MAY NOT PLAY ON PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT, DUE TO THE EFFECT OF THEIR PLAYING
NOISES ON THE INSTRUCTION IN ADJACENT CLASSROOMS.
Between 2:05 and 2:35, children may play quietly on the playscape while waiting
for their siblings. Since the children whose learning is being disturbed are the
children of the parents waiting, I anticipate full cooperation with this plan,
as your children in the classrooms have the most to gain from a quiet
playground. I will be out on the playground to remind parents about this
procedure.
At 2:03, 2:33, or 1:18, parents may proceed to their children’s classrooms.
Please be aware that your conversations are distracting to instruction inside
the classroom and stand well away from the doors.
No Afterschool Play by Students After Dismissal Even When Supervised by Their
Parents: We discontinued playing on the upper playground after dismissal because
it proved to be too dangerous while other adults and children were leaving
school and it interfered with the Extended Day Afterschool Program activities.
AT NO TIME MAY STUDENTS PLAY IN THE KINDERGARTEN YARD AFTER DISMISSAL. PLAYING
AFTER 11:20/12:20 DISMISSALS, ESPECIALLY, INTERFERES WITH BOTH PM KINDERGARTEN
INSTRUCTION AND GRADE 1 INSTRUCTION IN ROOM 12. THIS IS NOT PERMITTED AT 2:45
EITHER.
Thanks for your cooperation with all of the above.
