April showers bring . . . Makerspace rainbows!
Come to Room 23 Wednesdays and Thursdays this month to make different varieties of bubble solutions and wands, then put them to the test to form giant human-sized bubbles! Get pictures of the amazing shapes formed. Then experiment with a new way to create color using nothing but polarized filters and tape! (See picture).
This technique was invented by a local artist Austine Wood Comarow and the possibilities are endless. We will post our light artwork on the back window of Room 23, so come check it out!
Mini classes: Students can start signing up for our new small-group class coming soon on 3D printing (using 3D pens and 3D printer). A signup sheet will be available in the Makerspace/STEAM room during regular open sessions on Wednesdays and Thursdays. We anticipate more 3D building to come in the month of May, as well as arduino programming and another class on hula-hoop making, so signups will also be available for these opportunities as well.
Parent-run Makerspace challenge sessions are free of charge and are available during the following times:
Wednesdays: Lunchtime & after school 1:20 - 2:30
Thursdays: 2:05 - 3:30
Please remember that each child must have a supervising adult while innovating in the STEAM Room. Please contact Elizabeth Hiatt for further information about this policy or to provide parent approval for EDP student participation.
Makerspace is primarily run by parents volunteers. Join in the fun as a STEAM Room volunteer here! No experience required. Only enthusiasm!
