April showers bring . . . Makerspace rainbows!

Saturday, April 1, 2017 - 8:30am to Sunday, April 30, 2017 - 3:00pm

Come to Room 23 Wednesdays and Thursdays this month to make different varieties of bubble solutions and wands, then put them to the test to form giant human-sized bubbles! Get pictures of the amazing shapes formed. Then experiment with a new way to create color using nothing but polarized filters and tape! (See picture).
This technique was invented by a local artist Austine Wood Comarow and the possibilities are endless. We will post our light artwork on the back window of Room 23, so come check it out!

Running Club News

We have 32 Running Club Mustangs who have run the equivalent of one marathon!  Through the Kids Helping Kids Run program, each of these great kids has earned a pair of shoes for a kid in Lawndale who would otherwise not be wearing new shoes this rainy season.  If you haven't run with Run Club yet, it's not too late -- get that marathon and help our community!

Meadows e-Directory

Last year we introduced the Meadows e-Directory which is an app where you will find Meadows family contact info, teacher class lists, sponsor info, etc.  Many of you downloaded the app (which works with iPhone and Android devices) and created an account last year; if you already have an account, you do not need to do anything new for this year.  Just log in as usual and the directory information will be updated for the 2016-2017 school year.

If you are new to Meadows, you should have received an email from DirectorySpot with directions on how to create an account.

Grades of Green Tip of the Week

Teach your children to care for the earth. You could help them plant a tree or a garden, or help them set up a birdbath in the backyard.
Planning family vacations that focus on the outdoors is a great way to get even the youngest kids excited about nature.

Please see below for past Grades of Green Tips:

4/10/17 - Did you know that by saving just one gallon of gasoline you will prevent 20 POUNDS of carbon dioxide from being released into the atmosphere?

You can save that gallon by walking, biking, or carpooling.
